Story

Yey! We did it - here is an account of what we got up to. A big thank you to everyone who donated.

Our ghost hunting adventure by Dan.
Excuse the randomness of my report, I didn't make any notes at the time and I can't really remember what went on where so I have done my best, but it's not in any order. It was interesting, everyone was very serious though. Loo used dowsing rods and made contact with a 'john' who used to work there go the 1700's and was in his thirties, in another area she contacted someone else who didn't like me and stood in the doorway to stop me coming in the room, there was a cold bit in the doorway. Some of the 'serious' people were getting really into it. Me and megs had a go with the rods but couldn't get anything. During the seances we heard footsteps and a sigh and stuff and some people were almost wetting themselves with excitement. The highlight for us was probably the group 'ohm' chants or when our team leader was chanting, or maybe even during the first glass divination when Loo moved her foot and it banged on the floor and everybody thought it was somethin spiritual and Loo 'forgot' to correct them. David wells did an experiment with a woman about how 'energy' works, Loo and Megs had a photo with him. Some of group were seeing orbs with their naked eyes, the team leader had never come across this before. Meg's was involved with a glass divination where they were in contact with a 'David' from the 1400's who lived to the ripe old age of 60. During the group meditation, we were trying to visualise whatever energies were in the room and regress to what the room used to be like. The room was part of the museum and just set out like flambards a bit. I don't think it 'used' to be anything, nevertheless after we'd all bin in contact with the energies everybody in the room had somethin to say. Mine and meg's response was 'sorry we didn't see or feel anything'. Loo lied and said she did. One of the group saw a medievil stable boy who said in a strong cornish accent 'you shouldn't be 'ere oim wai'in for moi loverrr' someone else saw 'a man in a flat cap who was just waiting....waiting.....waiting'. Later on, Loo and Meg were in contact with a woman who was put to death for her crimes whilst we were sitting in a mock up of a candle factory she said she could move a candle for us. There were about a million candles so we're not sure if she did or not. My hand felt cold during the first glass divination, someone elses hand was hot, there was two degrees difference in temperature between our two hands. Oh after reading this message you need to eat drink shower and wiggle your fingers and toes to ground yourself, you shouldn't worry too much about being possessed as we all have natural protections in our body....apparently.

Hooray - we have a new event!

Loo, Meg and Dan (who is scared of the dark!) are going to complete one of the rare and muchly exciting Diabetes UK Fright Night thingies!

Basicaly we are going to volunteer to go sit in dark rooms looking for ghosts - not as 'daredevil' ish as normal you may think, however, bare in mind Loo can't watch Most Haunted without the lights on, and when we were younger Dan used to have every light in the house switched on and make me as his little sister follow him up to bed turning them off and making sure all the doors were locked myself as he was so scared of the dark (we were subjected to hours and hours of crime watch footage from a very young age, no wonder we were scared, in fact, it's a wonder we are as well balanced and normal as we are!) I do believe Meg is also a scaredy cat too!

So here are the official details:

We (Diabetes UK) are pleased to announce that this will be the first Diabetes UK investigation at this venue.  We are expecting a great deal of activity for all those lucky enough to participate.  This unique venue stands on the site of a former castle which can be dated all the way back to 1061.

Help to raise money for Diabetes UK and explore the museum with celebrity medium David Wells and friends who will instruct you on how to use ghost hunting and psychic equipment, and host vigils to try and detect any paranormal activity.

Wow!

Thank you again to all those of your who donated already, I hope this lovely option meets your requirements and you will let your donation stand as it is, and all those others of you who didn't have time yet - get donating! We have until the 24th of October, first day of half term before we go and scare ourselves silly!

ARGH! They cancelled on us so we as yet have not done this. We are currently awaiting an email from the team to let us know when an alternative event/date will become available amd will let you guys know as soon as we have something confirmed.

We are very sorry!

Anyone who would like to have their donation back for now and maybe re-donate at a later date please contact Laura and she will sort it for you.

Hoping to have a new date/event ASAP though. Thanks for all your support so far and watch this space!

Diabetes UK have been looking for daredevils and thrill seekers for one of their new extreme challenges - us three have volunteered!

As the Powerfan travels around, lucky participants will be able to experience the extreme thrills offered by the Powerfan.

Similar to a bungee jump without the bounce, the Powerfan allows individuals to launch themselves from a crane-based platform 35 meters high and experience over 30 meters of 87% freefall with a landing so gentle it is equivalent to stepping off two telephone books.  The only other way to have this kind of experience involves wearing a parachute.

All very exciting! However, we have a very short time to raise the funds needed! The proposed date for this is the 31st August - only days away!

The money raised will obviously be going to Diabetes UK. This is obviously a charity thats means a lot to us due to Loo having diabetes. The money will go towards their research and development of new treatments, and hopefully a cure for diabetes. A really worth while cause we are sure you will agree.

So please give generously, it could really make a difference plus it means we get to pretend bungee jump too!
