Angkor Wat (Cambodia) Trek · 14 October 2017

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

"Just a five-day trek," they said. "It'll be fun!" they said.

In October, I'll be trekking 85 km (that's 53 miles!) over five days in Cambodia. I'll be stomping across soggy fields and thrashing through overgrown trails; sleeping under a canvas tent, and finding all manner of creative uses for duct tape!

Why am I putting myself through this, you ask? To raise much needed awareness and funds for the Stroke Association.

Over six months, I will walk over 1000 km in preparation and training for this event.

My starting fitness level is best described as Couch Potato Queen. I'm devoting the next six months to shedding that reputation and turning myself into a Trekking Champion.

I've been motivated to do this trek for Stroke Association in memory of my best friend's mum, who sadly passed away in December from stroke.

I'll post updates of my progress over the next few months, and I hope you'll follow me on this journey of self discovery and blister prevention!
