Brighton Half Marathon 2012 · 19 February 2012 ·

We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Most of you know I am running the Brighton Half Marathon in February 2012-and here is my story why.

Joe and I have a lovely friend in Stan who is 12.  I have known him since he was 3 years old and he is so very dear to me.  Last year Stan was diagnosed with Hodkins Lymphoma Stage 4, where the tumors had spread all over his lungs.  Stan's mum called me in tears from her hospital bed to tell me this dreadful news and I can honestly say it was the worst phonecall I ever had received.

6 months on and on tuesday 20th December it will be Stan's last day of chemotherapy. He still has to endure 3 weeks of radiotherapy but on the bright side he has been given 95% chance of the disease never re-occuring and he hopes to be back to school in February.

I know Stan has been a real soldier during this turmoil, he has showed maturity and outstanding bravery way beyond his years. I am so proud of him and want to give him a little back by running this race to shout out just how proud of him I am.

Please please please sponsor me, help Stan and the Teenage Cancer Trust. The TCT have been there every step of the way and enabled him to meet others in and out of hospital who are going through the same treatment, they understand that being a teenager is hard enough!!
