I joined the Trotter Family YMCA in 2011 and it quickly became my home away from home. Everything about the atmosphere and the culture of the people was so inviting. My babies were well taken care of when I was exercising and it gave me an hour to clear my head. It wasn't until I attended the Trotter Family Women of the Y Luncheon that I really understood how special it is. It is so much more than a gym, we have a purpose. Thousands of families have been blessed by the amazing work Trotter does. The funds we raise help pay for swim lessons, youth sports, youth camps and after school care. It gives these children a safe and fun place to be. Our initiatives have shifted slightly due to COVID, but it has also opened up opportunities to help people in different ways. So many people including Seniors and teens have been isolated, and Trotter has been a great support to them. We also fund Adaptive programs providing children and adults with limitations the chance to learn and grow. Whenever Trotter sees a need, we jump right in.
In 2014, I became an Instructor and it is one of my greatest joys. I love seeing Members be able to move as well as have a supportive, social environment. Members look forward to coming to the Y each day, not just for the workout but for the camaraderie. Trotter truly is a special place, we are a family. It has given so much to me and it is my mission to help raise funds to give back. If you have questions, you can find me there Monday- Thursday at 8:30am! Thank you greatly for considering!
Sincerely- Laura Williams
