Story
Make May Purple 💜
On the 29th of March, my life changed in a moment.
I had a stroke.
I woke up from my sleep and something wasn’t right. I couldn’t talk. I couldn’t communicate properly. I had weakness down my right side, I had a right facial drop, and the headache… I can’t even explain it.
It was terrifying.
I knew what I wanted to say, but the words just wouldn’t come out. In that moment, everything changed. My brave Son was the one who helped me in a moment I couldn’t help myself.
Every single day in May, 240 people will go through this same reality. Mums, dads, grandparents, young people… even children.
Stroke doesn’t care who you are.
A stroke doesn’t just affect one moment. It changes everything. Your body, your voice, your independence, your future. It impacts not just you, but everyone who loves you.
I was lucky. I got treatment. I’m improving.
But not everyone gets that chance.
Stroke runs in my family, on my mum’s side, which makes this even closer to my heart.
That’s why Make May Purple matters.
This month is about raising awareness, supporting survivors, and making sure more people get the help they need — when every second counts.
Please take a moment.
Wear purple. Share this. Talk about stroke.
Learn the signs. It could save a life. 💜
