Story
So I will start by saying that mum was given the (final) all clear by her consultants, meaning that aside from those 6 monthly checkups she is now cancer-free!
Without a doubt, Mum's positive attitude got her through this horrible time. Two months of intensive chemo and radiotherapy will knock the wind out of anyone's sails. I'm sure she will agree with me, a lot of this positivity (aside from her family and friends who rallied round) was encouraged by the treatment provided by Macmillan nurses and medical staff.
These people are completely selfless and will do everything in their power to ensure patients and families are treated with the care and dignity they deserve at an extremely difficult time in their lives. From tenderly strapping a cold cap to your head to help stop your hair from falling out to the cheers that ring around the corridors on your last day of treatment. I am in awe of these people, as a result of seeing mum go through this - Macmillan have earned a huge place in my heart.
