Race for Reading
Campaign by Schoolreaders (RCN 1159157)
Be part of the Race for Reading and tackle childhood illiteracy with us. Our aim is to complete 25,000 miles in 80 days to raise money to provide weekly one-to-one reading support sessions to primary school children.

Story

We are taking part in Schoolreaders' Race for Reading to help support as many children as possible to learn to read well. Katherine has been volunteering for Schoolreaders since 2018 and has seen at first hand the difference even a few minutes a week one-on-one reading practice can make, particularly for the most disadvantaged children. Last year Laura helped with a Schoolreaders’ funding project and as teachers, both Jessy and James know how important good reading skills are to improve a child’s life chances. We are planning to walk, run, cycle, and even swim a total of 1,000 miles by 19th June. Every £15 will provide individual reading support for one child with a Schoolreaders volunteer each week for a whole year. So your donation, of any size, will help more children to catch up with their reading. Sadly, many children fell behind last year. Thank you for your support.
