Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  I'm raising funds as part of a team of work colleagues for the Robbie the Robot Appeal.

The Robbie the Robot Appeal aims to raise enough funds to enable the Royal Berkshire Hospital to gain outright ownership of the da Vinci Robot that they are currently leasing.  The da Vinci Robot allows them to perform robot assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy and enables them to stay at the forefront of cancer care.

This clinical programme has been very successful over the 4 years that it has been runnning and is now being rolled out to other specialities.

To date, £1.2m has been raised from multiple events towards the cost of the robot.  Having renegotiated their contract with the leasing company, a final settlement figure of £462,000 is all that now stands between them and outright ownership.

To help out in this worthwhile cause, in June 2013, our intrepid team have signed up to complete the Lake District 24 Peaks Challenge in 24 Hours.   It involves walking up and down (and in between) the 24 highest peaks in the Lake District in 24 hours (split over 2 days).  I personally want to raise over £1,000 for this cause. Your donation can really help me smash this goal.

Remember: Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never share them with anyone or send you unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. They'll make sure Gift Aid (an additional 25%) is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer, too. That means more money goes to the charity, faster, with JustGiving.
