Story
Welcome to my Just Giving fundraising page! In May I am taking part in the 2026 Edinburgh Half Marathon to raise funds for Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA). My aim is to complete the first of many half marathons and generate as much support as possible for this vital service, which makes a real difference to communities across Scotland.
I spent much of my childhood at my Grandparents home on the Isle of Lewis and now live rurally in Aberdeenshire. For as long as I remember I had been aware of the importance of the air ambulance to our islands and rural communities.
My family have experienced the importance of SCAA first hand, a few years ago two of my cousins were involved in a serious car accident on Lewis. They were both seriously hurt but, my cousin in the passenger seat had no air bag and she suffered life threatening injuries. She was flown to Glasgow and the crew on that flight assessed and treated her life threatening injuries so that she would survive the journey. This ensured that the hospital could operate immediately when they arrived. The crew on the air ambulance saved her life.
Now, as an employee of the Scottish Ambulance Service, I work with and see first-hand the impact of SCAA across Scotland. The charity receives no government funding and relies entirely on donations from the people of Scotland. Every penny raised helps ensure SCAA can continue providing emergency medical care where it is needed most.
I would be so grateful if you could take the time to sponsor me, in support of SCAA and to motivate me in my training!
