Story
I have decided to run the Bupa London 10k in support of CMT (Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease)
CMT is a condition that affects the nerves in your legs and arms known as the peripheral nerves. The condition is genetic and therefore several members of a family can suffer with this.
The condition slowly gets worse over time (is progressive), causing gradual deterioration of both the motor nerves and the sensory nerves which can have a number of effects. Such symptoms include foot drop walking gait, foot bone abnormalities (including high arches and hammer toes), problems with hand function and dexterity, balance problems, occasional cramping in the legs and arms and loss of some normal reflexes. It may cause long term pain and chronic tiredness.
CMT is thought to affect approximately 23,000 people in the UK and is a source of major research as there is currently no know cause for the condition.
This charity is close to my heart as it affects my family. It is a relatively unknown charity and I would like to raise as much money and awareness as I possibly can.
Any amount that you can sponsor would be greatly appreciated and would be going to a very worthy cause.
Thanks for your support!
