Story

JUNE EDIT:

In an unexpected twist of events, Mosaic Clubhouse, the charity I ran the Edinburgh Marathon for a few weeks ago have offered me the chance to run the London Marathon for them THIS YEAR. Considering that at the start of this year I was a non-runner, running 2 marathons in 4 months was absolutely not on my life agenda ever.

At the end of Edinburgh I promised myself not to do any more marathons for at least 5 years and I've probably not fully recovered from that marathon yet, so this challenge may well kill me off. I have less than 100 days to get ready and balancing training with summer festival plans is going to be an ordeal my body may never recover from.

But it's for an amazing cause and I may never get a chance to run London again as the ballot is famously impossible, so Operation 2 Marathons in 2022 is going ahead. To clarify: I am absolutely NOT expecting the lovely generous people who have already donated to donate again! But if you haven't already donated and are feeling kind, have a single instead of a double on your next night out and chuck the extra few quid towards this death mission.

ORGINAL DESCRIPTION:

Hello everyone. Running a marathon has always been on my bucket list and I've decided that 2022 will be the year I tick it off, so I'll be running the Edinburgh Marathon on 29th May. Athough I did a half-marathon in 2018 have not run further than 1km in one go since then, so this will be fun.

I've decided to run the marathon for Mosaic Clubhouse, a small organisation based in Brixton supporting those with mental health challenges. Most people know how much of an advocate I am for everyone to go to therapy (give me 2 shots and I'm trying to sign up strangers on the Jubilee line). Places like Mosaic Clubhouse make free mental health support more accessible for people who are struggling.

I'm very open about having used NHS services for support with depression and panic disorder in the past, and am privileged enough to have started using a private therapist around 6 months ago. Without access to services like these I don't know where I'd have ended up, so I'm very excited to raise money to help other people get the support they need.

If you're feeling generous and would like to donate to this death-wish challenge, feel free to give as little (or as much 😉) as you like, every penny is very much appreciated!
