Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In May I am going to be running/jogging the Bristol 10K, to raise money for a charity which is deeply close to my heart. The charity I'm going to be raising money for is St. Peter's Hospice, the work they do with both patients and their families is ineradicable.

Unfortunately in May 2013 my much loved Grandad was diagnosed with Asbestos Lung Cancer, otherwise known as Mesothelioma. This diagnosis came as a big shock to us all, because my Grandad was a fit, healthy man. Sadly, as each month passed by Grandad's battle with Cancer was taking an impact on him, which was terrible to see him so suffer in pain.

November 2013 was a really difficult month for me and my family because this is when Grandad's health deteriorated. As a family we felt that Grandad needed the extra help and attention that we weren't able to give, so at this point is where St. Peter's Hospice got involved. The hospice was a lovely, welcoming place from day one and there wasn't one thing they wouldn't do to help Grandad or for us as a family, and I will be forever thankful for. They did everything they could for Grandad to make his stay that much more comforting for the difficult time he was having.

On the 24th of November 2013 Grandad sadly passed away. That was the worst day of my life so far, but I take peace that he's no longer suffering in pain and is in a better place now. I'm glad that Grandad passed away in such a caring and calm place
