Fundraising for The Wave Project
Story
The Jess Memorial is an annual surf competition held in memory of the life of Jess Solley. It is an open event that all of the family can enjoy!
Jess’ family and friends chose to host the event in aid of The Wave Project in 2017 & 2018 and raised an awesome £5,922.49. They plan to fundraise for The Wave Project again this year, on Saturday 25th September 2021. They would love to see some of The Wave Project Family and Surf Club participating again this year…
This event is held in honour of Jess Solley who sadly took her life in 2009, after suffering from depression. Jess grew up in Polzeath and spent a lot of her childhood at the beach and surfing with her friends and family, so they felt that supporting The Wave Project would be apt. Last year, Pam – Jess’ Mum and event organiser, said: “Everybody seemed to enjoy it which is fantastic, they all had a happy day as well as raising money to help other youngsters to have happy days so a win all round”. The event is now in its Tenth year and Forth year supporting The Wave Project.
There are numerous events to get involved in, all for fun! These include: under 12; under 16 and tandem (two on a board attempting tricks or funny poses), shortboard, longboard, for our Surf Clubbers or ladies/ mens/ masters for Surf Mentors or Wave Project supporters! It costs £10 for under 16s and £15 for adults. There will also be a prize giving/ buffet/ live music in the evening at Valley Caravan Park from 6pm-late.

Tickets for the raffle will also be sold on the day of the competition (Wave Project hub at Tristram car park) and the winner announced during the evenings entertainment at Valley Caravan Park and live on @waveprojectcornwall Instagram for those who cannot attend the event who enter the raffle.
