Story

Thank you for for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

17th November is a very important date in our diaries, usually the day is packed with lots of activities to raise money for World Prematurity Day 💜

Sadly for the past 2 years the diary isn't filled with exciting activities planned and we aren't able to celebrate in our usual style however the date still stands and we can still raise some money with your help to help make the most difficult time for our families more bearable.

Covid has changed everything and the majority of you who help to make this day possible and help to raise money for our unit have been through or known a family go through the journey of having a baby on the neonatal unit.

Pre covid you were able to have the support of family and friends able to visit you and your little ones one the unit however during these unprecedented times families have been restricted to Mum & birth partner visiting just once per day and at the beginning of lockdown visiting was strictly one parent once per day. We are very grateful that this was just for a short time, however visiting restrictions are still in place to keep everyone safe.

Families have gone weeks and months without meeting their sibling, Grandchild, Niece or Nephew.

With the money previously raised we were able to set up an online baby diary, however this comes at a yearly renewal fee that without fundraising we would be unable to continue using. The nursing team can update the baby diary with pictures, videos and any other updates of the baby during their stay. It allows families to have their own log in that they can share with family and friends should they wish to.

We are happy for you to set up your own challenges, online raffles or any other ways you can to help raise money for World Prematurity day however we cannot stress enough the importance to keeping safe and within the government guidelines/restrictions that may occur as we head into the winter months.

Thank you
