Solo Skydive from 10 000ft + 10KM Wolf Run · 7 September 2019

We’re Mind, the mental health charity, working across England & Wales. We believe no one should face a mental health problem alone. We’re here for you. Whether you’re stressed, depressed or in crisis. We’ll listen, give support & advice, & fight your corner. Thanks for fundraising for national Mind.

Story

7th September- 13th September (unfortunately now pushed back until 21st-22nd Sep)

Autumn Wolf Run- 10km of hardcore, wild running across raw natural terrain, including open ground, woodland, lakes & thick mud

The run will consist of a unique combination of off-road running: mud runs, trail runs and obstacle runs which are both man-made and natural- designed to test your mental & physical strength, skill and stamina.

I will run, climb, jump, wade, crawl and swim through a course that is designed to challenge me on every level.

I will also be doing a solo skydive from 10 000ft on 24th August. This is not the standard skydive and so will require a day of training (AFF course) for the  jump, where I will learn about the equipment, exiting the aircraft, how to check my canopy, reserving drills and most importantly, how to control my landing. My jump will then take place on the following day.

I want to take on this challenge because I believe that these challenges portray mental health well-

Mental health is never a run in the park. It has its ups and downs and obstacles can come out of nowhere. But those obstacles can be overcome. They will be overcome.

Mental health can involve anxiety and fear. Those fears can't just be brushed off into thin air. It takes time. By me doing this skydive it represents that fears relating to mental health can be overcome. They will be overcome.

For those suffering with mental health, stay in there. It doesn’t matter how slowly you go, just don’t give up. Happiness comes in waves; it’ll find you again.
