Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving
6 years ago we were told our baby son had cancer. I will remember the moment I was told, for the rest of my life. The uncertainty, fear and complete and utter devastation of what might happen to him. We were rushed in an ambulance straight to Great Ormond Street hospital and our lives changed forever. No doctor could tell me if he would survive. I used to beg them for reassurance but the truth is they just didn’t know. Over the course of his treatment, we had to witness what no parents should ever have to see and what no child should have to go through. His only chance was to have a bone marrow transplant we were all tested to see if we were a match. Our eldest son age 4 years old at the time was a 100% match. We felt a mix of relief that we had a match but also the terrifying realisation that both our boys would be in hospital. We were thrown into a world where percentages of survival were our only option of certainty. Through our darkest hours, the hospital became our home and we are beyond grateful and so very lucky that our son continues to be in complete remission and lives a perfectly ‘normal’ life. There isn’t a day that goes by where we don’t think about how lucky we are as a family to have him here with us and we will always be eternally grateful. Childhood cancer is meant to be rare, however I have witnessed first hand so many families whose lives have been destroyed by this disease. Every day since his diagnosis, the fear continues to consume our lives. Our son has endured so very much in his life and we are beyond proud of him. He has grown into the most wonderful, clever and kindest little boy. His kindness and empathy to everyone around him is a testament to his character and resilience. We love him more than anything in the world.
We are grateful every day to all the consultants, doctors and nurses that took such great care of not only our son but all of us. They became our family and without them our little boy wouldn’t be here today.
My sister and I will be running for all the children who desperately need our help.
I know this is a super expensive time of year but if you can contribute a donation no matter how big or small we would be so grateful.
Many thanks
