Raleigh ICS · 31 December 2020 ·

We are a youth-driven organisation supporting a global movement of young people to take action. We exist to ignite youth-led action to create solutions to the world’s most urgent problems. We support young people by connecting them with the skills, networks, platforms and experiences to lead change.

Story

I’m really excited to tell you that I have been selected to volunteer overseas with Raleigh International on an International Citizen Service placement. ICS works with communities that have specifically requested their help. It also aims to inspire young people in the UK and
overseas to become active citizens who are passionate about long term community development.

After 70,000 words about ethics in developing countries i am lucky enough to have the opportunity to go and live my values!

To show my commitment to the cause and take myself out of my comfort zone i will be partaking in challenges i think reflect this the most. The first part of my placement is a challenge to raise £800 towards the work of Raleigh International and their ICS partners. The money raised will go towards enabling the overall costs of ICS, ensuring they can to continue sending youth volunteers to the developing world to make a lasting difference in disadvantaged communities.

Amongst other things, I’ll be fundraising through selling everything sellable (on depop), getting involved in sponsored runs in leeds and Sheffield and undertaking the one pound a day food challenge! You can keep track of how I get on here on my Justgiving page or through my facebook, twitter (@_wozza) and snapchat (@wozza01342). Any contribution from you will make a real difference to the lives of people in developing countries!!

If you're just as skint as me even sharing this post will help spread awareness and improve my chances of reaching as many people as possible!!

Thanks for your support!
