In Loving Memory of our Babs".
We are Barbara and Scott's family. We are running the London Marathon in memory of Barbara, to help raise funds for Alzheimer's Research into this terrible disease and to support Scott who is a real hero in our eyes.
Scott is also running the London marathon (2nd time round) and we wanted to support him, which means running along side him.
Alzheimer's is such a difficult disease to live with and seeing it effect someone you love, whether they're family or not is heart-breaking.
Barbara brought love, fun, friendship and brightness to all of our lives and made a huge impact in driving awareness of the condition in Britain. She encouraged many thousands of people to seek help for the horrible illness. Following her diagnosis with Dementia in 2014, Barbara and Scott's campaigning has left an “incredible legacy” which we want to continue.
Running the marathon will be a real challenge for me as 7 years ago I was diagnosed with Acromegaly and faced a real battle with this horrible and rare disease.. Only through the amazing support of my family and medical team, and despite multi operations, including brain surgery to remove a tumour I am doing well and in remission. 18 months ago I could not walk without pain and had a new right knee, which has added to to the battle to be fit for the marathon.
Please support us in our journey, Barbara will live on in our hearts forever and we will continue her legacy in raising funds for Alzheimer's Research UK in her name. Laurence and Harry #TeamARUK
