Story

I have taken on an epic and exciting challenge to run this
year’s London Marathon (26.2miles/42.2km) on October 3rd 2021!

My reason for running is to raise awareness and money for
Endometriosis UK. The opportunity for me to run one of the worlds truly great sporting events was set to me by my brother-in-law, Professor Andrew Horne, who has dedicated much of his career to pursuing ground-breaking medical research into improving the lives of women with Endometriosis. Please help support Endometriosis UK, Andrew, myself and the many women suffering with this challenging and incurable disease by giving as much as you can afford on my Just Giving page.

Endometriosis (pronounced en- doh – mee – tree – oh – sis) is the name given to the condition where cells similar to the ones in the lining of the womb (uterus) are found elsewhere in the body. It is a chronic and often debilitating condition that can cause painful periods, painful sex
and pelvic pain outside of periods. It may also lead to infertility, fatigue and bowel and bladder problems.

Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women, that’s as many as
diabetes yet very few people have even heard of it. Around 1.5 million women in the UK are currently living with the condition.

Endometriosis can affect all women and girls of a
reproductive age, regardless of race or ethnicity. The impact can be felt for life.

It takes an average of 8 years to get a diagnosis of
endometriosis in the UK, that’s too long!

Your donations will mean that Endometriosis UK can continue to support those affected by Endometriosis through national support groups, information provision and their helpline as well as continue to campaign for change, fairer treatment and eventually a cure.
