Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

At 8am Wednesday 20th May, Sam and I will begin a 26-hour exercise bike relay from the comfort of our own living room to raise funds for Little Green Pig, a children's creative writing and mentoring charity based in Brighton.

Why?
For three simple reasons:
1. Because we want the incredible work of the Little Green Pig team to continue.
2. Over the last few weeks, we have found ourselves turning to the arts for comfort and hope - from stories to music and film. It's never felt more important to support organisations fostering creativity amongst the youngest generation.
3. Also because we are apparently gluttons for punishment.

Who are Little Green Pig? They are a small team of passionate people who believe that every child deserves a space to create and share their stories. They work with children living in areas of high deprivation or facing challenging circumstances across Sussex. The work they do helps children to build confidence, communication and literacy skills and most importantly, express themselves. They work with schools, libraries, galleries, youth clubs, arts organisations and a growing number of professional writers and artists to produce high-quality work delivered via after school clubs or incredible one-off projects.  (More on some of their amazing work below).

How will the challenge work? We'll start our stationary ride at 8am on Weds 20th May. We'll each take roughly 2-hour shifts on the bike throughout the day until 11pm. Then we enter the graveyard shift, where we'll take a solitary 5-hour stint in the saddle whilst the other one tries to get some much-needed sleep. This will be followed by one final golden hour on Thursday morning, to take us through to the finish line 10am.

How can you help us? We understand these are strange, uncertain times, but even a £10 donation makes such a difference to the work Little Green Pig does. You can either make a one-off donation here, or sign up to the Little Green Pig Fiver Club (a monthly £5 donation that goes straight to helping the team continue their work).

And if that wasn't motivation enough to support us, if we hit our target, Sam has promised to do the ride in fancy dress.

A Note on the Fiver Club
If you'd like to offer more long term support and join Little Green Pig's Fiver Club, you can do that here: https://www.littlegreenpig.org.uk/little-green-fiver-club/

If you do sign up to the Fiver Club, please let us know and we'll add it to our total (and you're more likely to see Sam dressed up in an outfit of my choosing).
