Story
Hello everyone, thank you for visiting my JustGiving page.
In 2017, I was diagnosed with Stage 2 triple negative breast cancer 4 months before Craig and I were due to get married. I kept my illness very private at the time (although you may have guessed what was going on from the changes to my hair!)
After making the heartbreaking decision to cancel our wedding, I endured 18 months of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery. I tried to keep positive and to have as much fun as possible - including going straight from a chemo session to being bridesmaid at my friends wedding and convincing my oncologist to delay treatment so I could attend the farewell gigs of my favourite band! I am so very grateful to share that I am now approaching my fourth anniversary of being cancer free.
In Summer 2020, I started the Couch to 5k program but was forced to discontinue to recover from major abdominal surgery to remove a giant (benign) ovarian cyst and my left ovary and fallopian tube. Despite the setback, I picked myself up, restarted the program and graduated C25K in July 2021. Running has become a passion as it has helped me to realise how thankful I am to my body for enabling me to to run despite my previous physical health challenges.
I have signed up for the London Winter Run 2022 as I want to use my new found passion for running to raise money for a the Benno's Boobs Foundation. They are a small charity that provide targeted support to those who have been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer and have supported a friend who is currently receiving treatment.
Your support would mean the world to me and to those who are facing this terrible disease. Thank you 💜
