On May 13 2012 my Mum passed away with Ovarian Cancer after only 12 months following the diagnosis.  I am now committed to the fight in trying to conquer this disease, in all its forms.

In 2011, I raised $2,000(AUD) for Cancer Research participating in the Sydney Marathon.  However, in 2013 I am going for a much bigger goal of $10,000  by completing the Australian Ironman.  This is on 5 May in Port Macquarie, NSW.

An Ironman is a 3.8km swim, 180km bike ride, 42.2km run. This is all done in one day, with the cut off time being 17 hours!

2012 was the year of starting the base training to learn each of the disciplines, using completing the Marathon as a platform.  In September I joined the Hills Triathlon Club in Sydney and have a great coach and squad that I train with (plus recruit friends left, right, and centre to come train with me!).  My training program is approx 20 hours per week and at various locations all over Sydney.  It has been a pretty big shift in routine and taken a little while to adjust to the new training / diet / lifestyle regime.  However, it is all for the cause and will "Get There"!
