Laurie's rainforest challenge · 11 May 2020

Help us support indigenous communities in the Amazon and Congo Basin rainforests to take the fight to COVID-19.

Story

Laurie is 6 and loves the rainforest, one day he hopes to visit. Laurie will use his daily exercise allowance to cycle 7 miles each day for 7 days. He wants to use this time to raise money and awareness for the rainforest and its people, helping make sure its there for the future. He has set a funding target of £1 per mile and an ambitious challenge for himself but hopes to make as big a difference as possible and smash the target.

Indigenous populations of the world's rainforests are particularly vulnerable to the coronavirus. Already among the poorest of the poor in these regions, they are exposed through encroachment on their lands from industries and illegal loggers, often have lower immunity to diseases and can have little or no access to health care. Please support the Rainforest Foundation's appeal to help them: Develop response plans to COVID-19 Help communities to protect themselves Monitor and fight against illegal forest destruction and corruption that is continuing to increase, while the eyes of the world are looking elsewhere.
