PAPYRUS is the national Charity for the Prevention of Young Suicide. Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under the age of 35 in the UK, in 2018 over 1800 young people took their own lives. PAPYRUS provides confidential support and advice to young people struggling with thoughts of suicide, and anyone worried about a young person through their helpline, HOPELINEUK. Along with the hardships of the past year, it is apparent that there have been negative effects on people’s mental health. As a student myself, I have experienced how lonely lockdown and online classes can become, witnessed firsthand my friends struggling and very sadly lost an old friend to suicide. 

Now more than ever, it is so important that we support each other, raise awareness among young people of the existing support out there and help fund the amazing work that PAPYRUS already do. 

After registering to take part in this Parachute for PAPYRUS event, the instant regret set in! I am a very adventurous person, who is willing to try anything, but have been known to get slightly scared at heights😂 I am so excited to share my progress and experience doing the skydive with you all!
