Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. We are a team of 8 from London Business School Executive MBA 2012 stream, hiking Kilimanjaro (5,893m / 19,334 ft above sea level, is the highest free standing mountain in the world and the highest point in Africa) to raise funding to support low income women enterpreneurs in Tanzania through FINCA supported Village bank.

As graduates of a business school, we choose to raise fund for FINCA, as it provides financial services to low-income entrepreneurs, especially women, in developing countries.  FINCA's Village Bank loans empower women, inculcating leadership skills and confidence in them. Their loans further the government's poverty reduction strategies by allowing communities access to better medical services, food and education, particularly improving the wellbeing of people in rural areas.

Few compelling stories from Tanzania's FINCA village bank users: (We would appreciate if you can spare a moment to read these stories... your donation can transform the lives of the village bank users)

Evelyn Karata: From Crushing Stones to Computers

Sherida Mkama: Mother of 10 and owner of a produce business

Jesca Makumbi: Vegetable Seller

Climbing Kilimanjaro from boiling hot ground to freezing cold summit by hiking 8 days straight would not be an easy challenge for us but your donations and support will help us to keep going to conquer kili.
