Story

I think we can all agree 2020 has been a very strange year for everybody.... for me it has meant the London Marathon in April was moved to October & then finally cancelled.

My love for the Children’s Hospice South West started in June 2015, my beautiful little boy Kaleb, sadly past away at the Royal Devon & Exeter hospital & CHSW stepped in to support. The Children’s Hospice were & remain the most incredible charity, I promised from that day on I would do anything possible for them. I owe everything I have to help & raise awareness for CHSW.

On Sunday 4th October the London Marathon is going virtual, run 26.2 miles within 24 hours & be part of the first & most likely only ever ‘Virtual London Marathon.’

I’ve always had a burning desire to complete a very special & personal run so I thought no better time then now to link running the ‘virtual  London Marathon’ & my desire to take on my own running challenge. So on 4th October, I will be setting off from Kaleb’s grave in North Tawton & ending up at Little Bridge House, Fermington, a total of just under 30miles.

I remember driving from North Tawton to Little Bridge House the day Kaleb past away, my world had just fallen apart, the fear, heartache, pure devastation & the uncertainty around what happens next.... I arrived at Little Bridge House & my worries were taken away from me.

I want to run the road I once drove, 5 years has past since that day, now I plan to make the same journey but in my Children’s Hospice South West vest.

My plan is to run from North Tawton to the Puffing Billy at Torrington via Winkleigh, Beaford until I join the Tarka Trail then hit the road again at Instow through Yelland & into Fermington & finishing at Little Bridge House. I plan to run the first 18 miles alone & then from the start of the Tarka Trail I would love people to join me for a few miles & keep me company. I feel it’s only right I run the final few miles alone as I will have so many thoughts, memories & emotions going through my mind plus I would love to see as many people at the finish line as possible.

I know times are hard but please donate what you can, feel free to come & support me on my route to Little Bridge House. I will never be able to look Kaleb in the eyes, watch him grow up or be able to hold him & just be his Dad but with the money I raise I can help other families enjoy their special family time.
