Wooden Spoon is the children’s charity of rugby. Our vision is that through the power of rugby every child and young person across the UK & Ireland, no matter what their background has access to the same opportunities.

Story

On the 21st of May, Ben Martyn and Dan Turnock of Sussex Wooden Spoon Veterans team are carrying the Match Ball from the venue of last year's European Rugby Cup Final at Twickenham, to this year's final in Marseille on 27th May. They intend to complete this 850 mile journey by cycle in 7 days whilst raising money for Wooden Spoon - the children's charity of rugby.

Wooden Spoon funds projects across the UK and Ireland to support children and young people with disabilities or facing disadvantage. Research shows that 1 in 10 children in the UK and Ireland have a disability and there are 3.5 million children in the UK living in poverty. These numbers continue to rise and more and more children need our help. Their vision is that through the power of rugby, every child and young person has access to the same opportunities.
