Leahs Lovely Locks

Leah’s Lovely Locks · 15 June 2021
My daughter Leah intended to get her hair cut for charity when she became a teenager last year - but COVID-19 put a stop to that! So now that the restrictions have eased, and with one years’ extra growth, she has decided to go ahead with her plan to donate her hair to the Little Princess Trust and also use the opportunity to raise much needed funds for a local charity - Air Ambulance NI.
Please consider helping Leah to reach her £1,250 target which would provide enough fuel to keep the helicopter in the air for around two and a half hours - any donations will be very much appreciated.
She is getting her hair cut on 15 June 2021 so I will update you after that date on the actual length of hair donated (she's hoping to donate at least 14 inches) and also upload some photos!
Air Ambulance NI: The charity’s operational helicopter carries a crew, compiling pilot, doctor and paramedic, 365 days per year operating for 12 hours every day. They attend some of the most traumatic medical incidents across the province and are dedicated to delivering the very best possible pre-hospital care, both at the scene and whilst transferring the patient to the most appropriate hospital for their specific injuries. Their helicopter can get anywhere in the province in approximately 25-30 minutes and the rapid response is vital in an emergency situation. If a patient reaches hospital within the Golden Hour (60 minutes after their injury) their chances of survival are dramatically increased. Each day it costs £5,500 (£2m per year) to keep the air ambulance service operational and they rely entirely on support from the public and local businesses.
The Little Princess Trust: The charity provides free real hair wigs to children and young people, up to 24 years, who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions. They also fund pioneering, life-saving research into childhood cancers. They use hair donations and fundraising monies to manufacture and fit beautiful real hair wigs. They were established in 2006 and have supplied over 8000 wigs to children and young people and have also invested circa £5 million into ground-breaking childhood cancer research.
Please feel free to share this page with family & friends and thank you for your support from both Leah & myself!
