We're proud to be working with Autistica, who fund research into autism and Hope and Homes for Children, who ensure that all children have the chance to grow up in the love of a family.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am dusting off the bike again - this time raising funds for Hope and Homes for Children and Autistica - Deutsche Bank's two Charities of the Year and both amazing charities making a massive difference to the lives of children in institutions, and children and adults with autism respectively.

I had the chance to go to Romania with Hope and Homes for Children earlier this summer and visited some of the institutions they are working to shut down, with the ultimate aim being that children be reunited with their birth families, adopted, fostered or placed in small family homes. I also had the opportunity to visit many of the projects they have put in place to prevent children being put into state institutions in future, supporting families in poverty and numerous other initiatives. The trip had a lasting impact on me and I was very moved to see the incredible work they are doing, talk to the staff there about the problems they face and speak with adults who spent their childhood in such institutions.

Through Deutsche Bank's partnership with Autistica I have also had the opportunity to find out in detail about the work they are doing to fund research into autism and support families - there is such little funding into research for autism that our support will make a huge difference. You can find out more about each of the charities here:

Thank you so much for any donation you are able to make, big or small - I know from spending time with these charities that anything you are able to give will go a long way to helping them make a huge positive impact in the lives of children and young adults in real need. In addition, Deutsche Bank will match any donation you make so give generously.

I have not had the bike out much this year so this is going to be a bit of a test! I remember from 2010 that Ditchling Beacon is a very very big hill...
