Okay folks, by now you should know what I am all about. I like my charity work. I love it. It rocks my world. I love being able to make a difference to people who really need the support. I firmly believe that anyone who CAN make a difference, who is lucky enough to be able to do so, should make the effort.
So, what does 2017/18 bring for Robin? After setting a massive PB in London this year, I will be gunning for an even better performance in the 2018 edition of the race. Between now and then I have places booked in the half marathons at the Great North and Great Scottish Runs and am planning a summer of training and smashing the 2hour mark over the distance. I have also signed up for the Richmond Marathon and Berlin Marathon (the latter for MacMillan Cancer Support)
I will of course be running the big races in support of the wonderful team at Children with Cancer UK. The research they carry out, the treatments they pioneer, the services they offer and the magical days they give families affected by cancer all speak for themselves. I know the world has a lot of fundraisers, a lot of people appealing for help, so if you have visited this page I would like to thank you for coming in, whether or not you leave a donation. It's a cliché, but every penny really does count, every pound helps make a difference to kids who really need this support.
Pain is temporary, Glory is Eternal they say... that's true. Pain for me is temporary, the effects of taking part in marathons and raising funds is eternal, in how it backs the lives of children who are in situations outwith their control.
Just Giving are good honest people, they don't sell your details, they don't advise passing alien ships which ones of you are rich in nutrients and they do release the hounds upon your departure. Gift Aid may be applicable, allowing an extra 25p for every pound you donate, at no cost to you.
