Lebanon Winter Appeal 2021

Assma Galuta is raising money for Salam Charity

Team: Winter aid mission

Lebanon Winter Appeal 2021 · 18 January 2021 ·

Salam Charity was founded in 2011 with the aim to help fight poverty and transform lives. Every night over 800 million people go hungry and nearly 6 million children die each year from preventable diseases. Salam Charity aims to tackle this by providing lifesaving meals, clean water, sanitation, clothing and education. This will allow everyone to realise their birthright of living a happy life by developing their full potential. Salam Charity works in many countries around the world with a particular emphasis on the Rohingya emergency crisis. Salam Charity has a five year strategic plan which will focus on bringing a positive and lasting change in the lives of those affected by poverty. Our aim is to empower people for them to be in charge of their own destinies. We endeavour to support households, local communities and national institutions to develop longer term collective approaches to reinforce their capacities to better respond to, mitigate and prevent humanitarian emergencies and hunger crises. Supported by global celebrities, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and social media influencers, We have one important mission: to save and change lives for the better. We will do what it takes to bring humanity closer to a world free from hunger and poverty.

Story

In Memory of: Sadick Mazhary

I will be traveling to Lebanon at the Syrian border in January to support those suffering and in need of support and aid, especially during the winter and a global pandemic. I know it is a dangerous time to be traveling to a crisis zone but I am honored to volunteer on the ground for Salam Charity's Winter Appeal while I have your support from the safety of your homes.

Lebanon hosts one of the largest populations of Syrian and Palestinian refugees with around 2 million people crammed into overcrowded and often dangerous camps with no heating, electricity, or running water. 70% of the families in Lebanon’s camps live below the poverty line and over 50% of those are below the age of 18, which means that millions of children are growing up knowing nothing but conflict, hardship, and poverty.

Winter doubles the challenges faced by the Palestinian and Syrian refugees and the bitter truth is, unless we act now, thousands of children and elderly will not survive the cold.  They simply do not have the resources to see them through these difficult times. A lack of food, inadequate warm winter clothing, and no fuel for heaters and stoves will mean that life is a daily struggle for these people.

WE ARE OFFERING A LIFELINE…

Salam Charity is heading to Lebanon this January to offer the refugees a lifeline out of hardship and give them hope of a brighter future. We will be distributing winter kits including warm clothing and much-needed food packs to give them the means to survive sub-zero conditions. We will also be visiting the site of the bomb blast in Beirut and supporting those who have been affected by the recent atrocities.

To previous donors, thank you for your continued support, and to new donors, I thank you in advance for your generosity.

Please donate generously and help us to make a difference in the community.
