Story

I'm taking on the lakesman half distance ironman triathlon on the 16th June 2024 to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity. They provide specialist lifelong support for members of the UKs fire services community, empowering individuals to achieve mental, physical and social wellbeing throughout their lives.Whatever their reason for coming to the Charity whether they are injured, recovering from an illness, suffering from stress or anxiety their teams take the time to understand each persons mental, physical and social needs. To ensure the Charity can do this for over 5,000 people a year and to meet the £9m cost of operating its support services, it is dependent on regular donations from fire and rescue service personnel, past and present, as well as the general public.

Here's a little about me. Before I joined the fire service I was around 27stone and was incredibly unfit. I set out to loose weight in the dream of becoming a firefighter. I've now lost well over 12stone and really want to set bigger challenges and see what I'm really capable of doing. And raise awareness of such an incredibly important charity. I can now say I'm a retained firefighter in the UK and also a fulltime firefighter at Blackpool Airport.  I will continue to support the charity and push myself to see what other challenges to enter.
