We’re Mind, the mental health charity, working across England & Wales. We believe no one should face a mental health problem alone. We’re here for you. Whether you’re stressed, depressed or in crisis. We’ll listen, give support & advice, & fight your corner. Thanks for fundraising for national Mind.

Story

Ok stick with me it’s a long one... I run occasionally, for weight loss and general fitness but definitely not for shits and giggles. I’ve been wanting to up my game this year, more miles, more consistency etc, mostly just to lose a bit more timber but I’m thinking of focussing the extra effort into a good cause which will keep me an track and hopefully help a few people out. The worlds a dreary place at the minute with no real sign of improving anytime soon, unemployment is through the roof, businesses forced to close, people’s jobs and lively hoods under constant threat, a lot of people are struggling to balance their work/home life and of course we’ve had more lockdowns than a South American prison. Loads of people are having a tough time mentally at the minute dealing with what’s going on around us, anxiety (something I’m not afraid to say I’ve struggled with in the past) high stress levels and general mental health issues are through the roof as well as suicide numbers being at a record high, we’ve lost a couple of local lads recently who chose to take their own life which only highlights the point.

So. I’m going to run 10k every day for at least a month/30 days straight starting April 1st (and this isn’t a joke..) hopefully more if my body holds out. I’m going to do it for the charities MIND and CALM (campaign against living miserably) who both specialise in Men’s mental health, and I’m aiming for a total of at least £1000 but obviously i’d like that to be a lot higher at the end. What I’d really like is for my some of friends and colleagues to get involved and run some 10ks with me. Lads and lasses, fitness levels irrelevant, no pressure, no records to beat, can be as steady as you want. just a moral boost for me, a bit of fun and a chat as we go and of course a little bit of exercise. Maybe even towards the end anyone that doesn’t run or can’t we could throw a brisk 10k dog walk in the mix...

I’ll get the donation page up and running this week, I look forward to seeing all your names on there as well as a few of you putting yourself forward to doing a 10k with me 😩X
