Story
Dianne would have been 49 in August. She always liked to remind me that she was 10 weeks younger.
In her memory I will be walking the 13 miles from home to Newcastle quayside (where I proposed) 7 times during July, August and September. The walks will take in Newburn, Scotswood, Redheugh, High Level, Swing, Tyne and Millennium bridges. That's 7 bridges, 7 times, which even as an accountant I know makes 49!
I cannot overstate how vital my membership of WAY - Widowed And Young has been over the last 2 and a half years. Its a safe space to discuss issues, thoughts and feelings which would be difficult for those closest to us to hear. Meeting others who know a lot of what you are going through is invaluable.
To paraphrase something a wise man said recently, you don't get over the loss of your partner. You adapt, not recover, and like losing a limb you limp. In that analogy WAY has been my crutches.
The Covid-19 epidemic and relating lockdown has led to the cancellation of fundraising events which has hit all charities hard, including WAY.
Anything you can spare would be greatly appreciated.
£2 pays for a WAY member to have access to the WAY support helpline providing 1:1 telephone advice and counselling (24 hrs a day/365 days a year).
£5 pays for marketing materials to reach out to 100 young bereaved people who could benefit from joining WAY.
Thank You x
