Aberdeen Kiltwalk 2023 · 4 June 2023 ·

Inspire empowers the life choices of people with learning disabilities and additional support needs across the North East of Scotland. We provide a range of services including residential care, supported accommodation, training for employment initiatives and respite.

Story

I work for Inspire (Partnership Through Life) as a support worker and this year I will walk (or jog) the 18 miles Mighty Stride in Aberdeen's Kiltwalk to raise money for the charity. 100% of the money I'm hoping to raise will go towards Inspire's Added Value Events, which are free to attend for the people we support.

These include regular group activities, social clubs, outings, performances, big once-a-year parties, and special experiences.  I know they get a lot out of these events, especially a lady I support who goes to one of the weekly social groups.  It's an important part of her routine, and a chance for her to hang out with friends, learn skills, and have fun in a relaxed and understanding environment.

The costs of running these events aren't covered by the money Inspire gets through the council and people's care packages (that goes to boring but necessary stuff like my wages...) so it's really important to me to help raise funds so that these clubs and events can keep going.
