Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis(JIA) is a rheumatic condition affecting children and young people. CCAA Kids with Arthritis is a volunteer led charity run by people who have been affected by JIA and are passionate about supporting others. We do not receive any statutory funding and fundraise for all our activities. Donations fund the projects and activities we run across the country including our Family Information Weekends. Without donations we simply cannot continue to support families that need our help. Thank you for your support.

Story

Thanks for visitingy just giving page, here is my story.

I have set myself a challenge to do 100 rounds of continuous kickboxing sparring. This will consist of 100 x 2 minute rounds with a minute inbetween each round (with a shirt change and toilet break when necessary). I would like this to be against 100 different opponents so that each person is fresh at the start of their round. The reason behind this challenge is that in 2012 my son (7 years old at the time) was diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis - prominently affecting one of his knees. A few months after his diagnosis, we both started training in freestyle martial arts, the idea of this was to try and help keep my sons joints active and help with the movement in his knee. The training has been successful and both of us along with my wife and daughter have earned our blackbelts. I am aiming to raise as much money as I can for both the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre and Children's chronic arthritis association (CCAA) When he was first diagnosed, he was treated at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford. This is my way of giving back to them for the fantastic treatment and care that my son has received whilst being a patient under their care. I would also make to like a donation to the CCAA to help increase awareness of this horrible condition that not only adults but children have to deal with. Please give generously for these fantastic causes and feel free to come and watch my 100 round spar-a-thon. Thank you, Lee Ashman
