Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit Lee's Sunshine Fund just giving page.

We are the family of Lee Ridgway who sadly took his life at Bramhall train station in August 2016.

Lee, our beautiful boy, was only 16 years old and had never expressed any suicidal thoughts or been diagnosed with any mental health issues. He was a bright fun loving boy who had just passed his GCSEs and about to start studying at the college of his choice.

After returning from a fabulous family holiday abroad Lee started a summer job at Manchester United that he really enjoyed, he had lots of friends, a full social life and a caring family who all adored him. He was very popular and nobody at all expected him to end his life so his passing came as a total shock to everyone.

Our family have been absolutely devastated at the loss of our child. We will never ever stop loving and missing him. Since Lee's death we have learned that suicide is the biggest killer in young people under the age of 35. Many hide their symptoms and do not talk openly about their inner turmoil or any issues.

We have been supported by PAPYRUS the charity for prevention of young suicide and wish to raise funds for them. Their work and research is so vital in this field. They offer a confidential helpline for suicidal people and their families and friends, run training courses, raise awareness, campaign nationally and lobby politicians.

Lee was called Sunshine at home so we wish to organise a series of sun themed events to raise money and awareness in his name.

Thank you for any donations made to this much needed and worthy cause - we like to think Lee still shines brightly.
