Story

SpecialEffect

SpecialEffect are an incredible charity that help put fun and inclusion back into the lives of people with physical disabilities by helping them to play video games. As I'm sure most of my friends and family are aware, video games hold a special place in my heart as it's both a hobby and a career. So I really understand the fun and joy that video games can bring to people.

Here are are some of the great examples of how SpecialEffect have helped and benefited people:

Tom - A young man SpecialEffect helped, puts into words the difference such support will be helping to make: ‘Thank you for giving me my life back.’ Sadly Tom has now passed, but he was kept happily gaming right up to the night before he passed away. His family are now good friends of SpecialEffect. https://www.dropbox.com/s/uymuwdi6dn51h4q/Tom_HD.mp4?dl=0

The Background Story:

On Monday April 27th 2020, we had a plan to ride as Cycling group from our Sumo Digital HQ in Sheffield, all the way down to SpecialEffect HQ in Oxfordshire. A distance of around 140 miles. We had hoped to pick up other Sumo cyclists along the way, from our other studios, and help to raise some funds.

Then the world turned upside down with the horrific virus situation, and everything was postponed even before it could be promoted :-(

The New Story!

So now, on Sunday May 24th, we are planning on doing the same distance as a virtual ride, using the cycling app ZWIFT (on turbo trainers at home)

At the moment we have three riders here in Sheffield, but we are hoping to get as many other road cyclists involved, assuming you have the equipment, the app and the ability to ride for around ten hours! If you are interested in joining us for the full or part distance, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me or connect on Zwift, and we can make the arrangements. We also hope to live stream the event somehow, but we still need to figure that out.

If you would like to join us or not, we would appreciate it if you could share our Just Giving page far and wide, and help to generate some funds and raise awareness!

Thanks for reading, and hope to see you on the virtual road!
