Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon 2017 · 8 October 2017 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Thanks for coming to visit.

As many of you will know, last year I lost my wonderful Grandma to Dementia. It's a cruel, cruel disease and one that will unfortunately touch many of us at some point in our lives.

I've never been a runner but a few months ago I signed up to run this half marathon. And then realised I should probably learn how to run...which I've somehow miraculously managed to do.

All jokes about my running capabilities aside, the real reason I'm doing this is to help in the fight to find a cure for Dementia so that others don't have to witness the heartbreaking decline of their loved ones, as well as helping to provide support for those living with Dementia. Any amount you lovely lot are able to donate to help me with this will be greatly appreciated.

Crossing the finish line will be a huge achievement for me, and whilst I know if she were here my Grandma would be the most concerned about me taking on this challenge ("drink plenty, eat plenty, look after those joints.."), I know she'd also be the most proud.

Thanks for your support of this great cause.
