Bedford Academy, in collaboration with the Bedford Castle Rotary Club, will be attempting to cross 100 bridges in a day to raise funds for digital literacy resources and local charities. The event, titled ‘Bridging the Gap to Literacy: 100 Bridges Challenge’, will take place on Monday 10th July 2023 via a circular route along the Bedford Embankment, and tackled by individuals or teams in relays. Reading, as a strand of literacy, is a particular priority as it is a key indicator of the progress students will make across all subjects. This challenge is to raise funds for Bedford Academy to purchase much needed equipment to combat illiteracy, and for Bedford Castle Rotary to support local charities. We believe that the sponsored walk will not only raise crucial funds but also create a sense of unity and purpose within our school community. By coming together to support digital literacy, we can equip our students with the skills they need to excel.
