Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 5th September as part of the Deloitte Ride Across Britain challenge I will be cycling a 969 mile route from Land's End to John O'Groats over 9 days for the Blue Ribbon Foundation. Please note I'm not a seasoned cyclists! However I have decided to take on this personal challenge to better our own physical health and to help raise the profile of men’s health issues more generally in partnership with the Blue Ribbon Foundation. A target of £2,000 has been set - obviously, it would be great if this could be a whole lot more!

Who are blue ribbon?
The Blue Ribbon Foundation is a men’s health charity which aims to raise awareness of men’s health issues, in particular cancer, and has the longer-term ambition of achieving the same profile for men's health that the Pink Ribbon movement has had for women.
The Blue Ribbon Foundation has three very important objectives…
- To raise awareness of male health issues – particularly cancer.
- To use the Blue Ribbon as a ‘rallying banner’ to help bring about awareness; and to encourage other male health charities to adopt the ribbon.
- To support other male health and cancer charities.
Why blue ribbon?
The reason for choosing the Blue Ribbon Foundation as the charity we wished to support was a simple one. In recent times many things have been put into perspective. With a shock skin cancer diagnosis in the family and sadly the death of a family friend, it quite simply became time for us to act. For me as individuals, it was about making personal changes and supporting those close to us to do the same. But we wanted to do more than that. We wanted to do what we could to highlight the importance of men’s health so that other men might learn that many of these life threatening conditions can be avoided or cured if caught early enough. It is common knowledge that men are far less likely to notice changes in their bodies and even less likely to get their health checked out. We think it is time to make the point that you shouldn't let embarrassment get in the way of an early diagnosis and you should be mindful of the importance of taking care of your own health.
So back to the fundraising
We want to raise £5 minimum for every mile we ride and will be fitting in lots of fund raising activity alongside our very strenuous training programme along the way - we do hope you will visit our web page www.littleandlargegocycling.co.uk and support our efforts in anyway you can. Thank you.
