Event: The Great Garden Sleep Out 2020, on 26 June 2020
On Friday 26th June were asking our supporters to join the team in sleeping in their gardens. If you dont have a garden, dont worry! You could maybe make your bed on a balcony or even sleep in a sleeping bag, on the floor, in your living room!

Story

Since the original Sleep Out event was cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, I will be participating in the Great Garden Sleep Out on 26th June to raise money to support the homeless community in my local area. In view of the current public health crisis, funds are more important than ever and Pathways are a vital service for some of our society’s most vulnerable people. I know this is a very challenging time for many of us but this is a pretty sobering reminder of how much worse things really could be, so I would really appreciate any donations you can spare and will be posting regular updates. Thankyou 💕

On Friday 26th June were asking our supporters to join the team in sleeping in their gardens. Although our main office is closed, Pathways of Chesterfield continues to support the homeless community in Chesterfield, North East Derbyshire and Bolsover through the current public health crisis and fundraising is more important than ever when so many services have had to close their doors. The number of people rough sleeping in England has increased each year since 2010 and an estimate of 4,677 rough sleeping in any one night in 2018 (Statistics from Homeless link), the importance of understanding homelessness is growing in significance. Last year, Pathways worked with 363 different people who were either homeless or at risk of losing their tenancy 154 of whom we were able to support into accommodation. However, they rely heavily on the contributions of regular supporters and one-off donations in order to continue this vital work.
