Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by the sudden cardiac death. We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am undertaking the greatest challenge of my life, cycling the entire UK with Simon Hughes, to raise money to help save young lives, in memory of our late friend Gareth Roberts.

I met Gareth on a cycling holiday in Majorca. He was a genuinely lovely man, who dedicated his life to helping others as a paramedic. Back in the UK,  whilst riding his bike, suddenly and totally unexpectedly he died from an undiagnosed heart condition.

On 25th May 2019, Simon and I will set off from Land's End in Cornwall, aiming to cycle 1,000 miles in 10 days and (hopefully!) arrive in John O'Groats, Scotland on 3rd June 2019.

Our families have met all costs associated with our challenge, so you can be confident that every penny raised will go directly to Cardiac Risk in the Young (C-R-Y).

Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions. With your donation, CRY can reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young. By supporting CRY you will help save young lives from these potentially fatal cardiac conditions. See how your support can help by visiting www.c-r-y.org.uk
