The challenge...
We came up with the fairly audacious idea of cycling the length of the country - Lands End to John O'Groats - in just 4 days.
The course is 1,407km in total, which works out at an average of 351.75km per day. That's around 12 hours on the bike (ouch!) and 10,000 calories burned each day.
For all four of us, this will be, without doubt, the toughest challenge we've ever come up against. So, why are we getting in the saddle and pushing ourselves to near breaking point?
1 in 4 of us experiences a mental health problem every year pre-pandemic.
And for each of us, cycling is a crucial component to keeping our mental health in check.
That's why we're supporting https://mentalhealth-uk.org/ - a charity that delivers support and services for some of the biggest societal challenges that pose a threat to people's mental health here in the U.K.
With approximately 7.5 million people in the U.K. living with a diagnosed mental illness (and that's only diagnosed) - this could very easily be any one of us needing and calling upon their vital support.
Your donations will not only support people living with mental health problems right now, but will raise invaluable awareness for anyone suffering with mental health issues, for those who support them AND help to normalise the conversation as much as possible.
And finally...
A big thanks to the brands/companies who are fuelling our ride: Manilife, Tenzing, True Start Coffee, Veloforte, Food Circle Supermarket, Exalt Drinks, Hilltop Honey.
And THANK YOU in advance for any donation you can contribute towards this incredible charity - it's greatly appreciated.
P.S. - Keep an eye out on our socials for updates throughout this gruelling cycle!
