Leonard for the Children's Society

London Marathon 2021 · 3 October 2021 ·
My sister and I remember our childhood as a very happy time, despite challenges that could have made it very different. Growing into adulthood, this has left me with a passionate belief that no matter what is going on in the big bad world, all children deserve the best chance to happiness, health and security.
Unfortunately this is not the reality for all children today: Despite the huge progress made in the 140 years that the Children's Society has been fighting the children's corner, children are still exposed to abuse, exploitation and neglect. The pandemic and its unfolding impact has only made things worse, by plunging families into poverty, left children isolated and scared about the future.
Now a dad, I do my best to give our son a happy and healthy childhood he can remember in years to come; and am excited at the prospect of making a difference for the children who need support through their most serious life challenges.
