Story
Clearly 13.1 miles of torture isn't enough for my liking, so as you can see I've recently lost the plot altogether and decided to take on the London Marathon.
During my little 26.2 two mile jog(!) around the wonderful sights of London, I'll no doubt encounter horrendous pain and will need copious amounts of mental strength to complete the course. What better way of enduring this, then, than enduring it in the knowledge that I'm supporting amazing individuals who suffer with this pain every day? People who have no choice but to be mentally strong every day of their lives.
Anyone who knows me well will know that rugby has always been a big part of my life, so I'm proud to run on behalf of the RFU's official charity - the Injured Players Foundation. The IPF provide support and information to rugby players in England who sustain a catastrophic spinal cord injury or traumatic brain injury playing the game (as well as those who have suffered smaller injuries) and help prevent future injuries through research and education.
Their assistance empowers injured rugby players to lead their lives as fully and independently as they are able to, and extends to their family, friends and club - immediately after injury and for the rest of their lives.
Rugby players who endure such injuries often not only have to come to terms with the possibility that they may never be able to play the sport that they love again, but also must see their life end as they know it, struggling with all of the aspects of life that we take for granted - walking, talking, eating, running...
Thank you for visiting my page and supporting the fantastic work of the RFU Injured Players Foundation and enabling injured players to participate in the sport that they love again.
