Story
This year instead of the day time memory walk we thought we would change it up and try the night walk instead . In the hope this wouldn’t be called off!
Since the diagnosis and then passing of my mum we have come together as a team to raise funds fin our loved ones memory.
Having witnessed dementia in all it's different forms - it’s scary to think that no one is immune from it nor are there any survivors.
The feeling when a loved one looks at you with a knowing smile but absolutely no idea what or who you are to then is devastating..
Grieving for someone you are losing whilst they are still there is desperate and the helplessness and lack of knowing what to do in that situation needs addressing.
We need to make sure that there is enough support for both patient and carer. . Enough research to try and prevent it . Enough awareness so it can be spotted early.
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
