10k isn't a lot for some people. And I have run further. But this time it's different. To date I haven't run further than 2 miles since I tore my ACL in January 2016. (I know). 4 years later, in 2020, I am getting married at Braemar Castle and plan to help raise the profile of the project and some much needed funds to help in any way I can to keep this invaluable asset to Scottish history at the heart of the community for a good while yet.
I spent much of my childhood running around the Castle with my sisters looking for the teddies and eating chocolate biscuits behind the shop counter.
When I was at Braemar Primary I ran the Balmoral Fun Run, it was a fun and busy event even back then. The 10k however, has always been one I've been scared of. The hills. Oh the hills. I even signed up to run it in 2016 but then I had my knee accident and that put me off running any further than for the bus. Now, with the incentive of an ambitious project by Braemar Community Ltd and a puppy to help motivate me to train, I am going to give this everything I have.
Braemar Castle is raising money for a £1.5M restoration project which will bring it alive again, honour my childhood memories and will be the place I can take my own children in the future.
I love the castle and all it stands for - the history, community and identity - so I am doing all I can to raise money. If you can support me and this special place by sponsoring me you would be doing a very good deed. AND helping me up those hills!!
