Story
Who am I?
I'm Lewis Austin, I used to be medical engineer, now I'm back studying and an occasional yoga teacher, based in Cupar, Fife.
What I'm doing
On August the 16th, I'm walking 20 miles (32 km) from St Andrews to Dundee to for the Kiltwalk Mighty Stride. I'm training with running, hiking, and cycling, ask me afterwards how the knees are holding up!
This is to raise funds for Dundee-based charity, Comics Youth SCIO.
Why Comics Youth
I believe creativity and confidence are skills every young person deserves the chance to build, and too many just don't get that chance.
Comics Youth run free zine-making workshops for marginalised young people from 8 to 25 years old, in the Dundee communities they live in. Financial cost and traveling to unfamiliar places are the main barriers that stops kids getting involved at all.
There's something brilliant about a young person seeing their own drawings turned into an actual printed comic. It's real tangible proof that what they make matters.
Have a nosey on their website to see what they've been up to.
Where your money goes
Whatever you can donate goes towards running these workshops and directly helps the young people, travel for the team, art supplies and the printing of the full-colour prints.
You are enabling Comics Youth to keep turning up for these young people, week after week. You're not just sponsoring a walk, you're helping keep the workshops running.
My target is £200, every bit helps me get there.
Thank you for reading this far, and thanks in advance for whatever you can spare!
