Care 24 Peak Challenge · 30 May 2008
This year Lexicon is having another crack at the CARE 24 Peaks Challenge, over the weekend of 28/29 June. This will make a grand total of 75 Peaks tackled by Lexicon teams in CARE events over the past four years - one go at the 3 Peaks along with three attempts on the 24 Peaks.
As the name suggests, the event involves climbing 24 peaks in the Lake District, all of which are over 2,400 feet, within 24 hours. The summits to be attained include many of the classic Lakeland climbs, including Red Pike, High Stile, Great Gable, Helvellyn, Great Dodd and Scafell Pike. The total vertical ascent is over 4,000 metres spread over a distance of more than 50 kilometres, so it makes for a fairly testing weekend regardless of the weather conditions (which, in our experience, are invariably atrocious).
This year we are particularly delighted to be supporting CARE in organising the whole event, and are looking forward to tramping the hills with over 20 other teams from the City and beyond. We would be very grateful if you were able to add your support for CARE by sponsoring us for this event. Donating through this site is the most efficient way to sponsor us since CARE will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Lexicon team members are Stuart Britton, Charlotte Chase, Tony D'Souza, Jon Dunn, Jo Garinet, Mark Hennessy, Martha Kelly, Matthew Lindsey-Clark, Charles Outhwaite, Robert Perry, Peter Phipson, Amanda Quinlan, Andrew Sibbald, Joe Suddaby, Tara Terris and James Viggers, with guest appearances from Victoria Adams, Chris Garinet and Lisa Phillips. Support team members include Claire and Phil Pople, Suzy and Rob (and Suzy's special fruitcake) and Tony Garinet.
